I am organizing an exhibition at Northern Contemporary called Never Real & Always True running from March 9th to the 21st. I came across your work online a few months ago—and love it—and was wondering if you had work you would be able to submit.
The exhibition is seeking artists to illustrate how their individual experiences with mental illness have been impacted by social stigma. A portion of all gallery proceeds will go towards the Toronto Distress Centre (with no financial loss to the artist), an entirely volunteer based organization providing 24-hour telephone support, 365 days a year, to those experiencing emotional distress or in need of crisis intervention and suicide prevention. The deadline for the call for submissions is March 5th, which I realize is quite soon. However, we would love if you had the time to either create a new work or submit an existing one.

“Armie” has taken an unprecedentedly dark turn. “He” had encouraged her to take her own life before; this is the first time he has advocated murdering someone else. — In real life, aren’t such impulses usually framed as self-defense, against an “attack” that isn’t really happening? I don’t think I’ve heard of a “voice” that just said “kill (someone you love)” without it being (fake) self-defense or (undeserved) punishment. But that’s based on second-hand experience. — Meantime; this comix really resonates with me. I look forward to whatever’s next!
